About Odisha State Open University

Odisha State Open University (OSOU), established in 2015 by an Act of the Odisha state legislature, is the state open university of Odisha. Located at G.M. (Gangadhar Meher) University Campus, Sambalpur, OSOU provides Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online education to working professionals, dropouts and lifelong learners across Odisha. Recognised by UGC-DEB (Distance Education Bureau).

OSOU offers UG (BA, BCom, BBA, BCA, BSc), PG (MA, MCom, MSc, MBA, MCA, MSW, MLib), MPhil, PhD, Certificate and Diploma programmes through ODL and online modes. The university has regional centres across the 30 districts of Odisha with 500+ study centres. UGC-DEB recognised for ODL and online programmes. Special programmes for tribal and women learners.

Admissions are rolling — two intakes annually (January and July cycles). UG admissions on Plus Two pass basis; PG on bachelor degree basis. No entrance for most programmes; merit-based with relaxation for SC/ST/PwBD.
