About Birla Institute of Technology & Science
Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani, established in 1964 by an Act of the Rajasthan state legislature and declared a Deemed-to-be University under the UGC Act, is one of India's premier private engineering institutes. Located at Vidya Vihar, Pilani in Jhunjhunu district, BITS Pilani is the original BITS campus and serves as the flagship of the BITS group (which now also has campuses at Dubai, Goa, Hyderabad). The institute was founded by industrialist G.D. Birla and built on the legacy of Birla Education Trust (established 1929).
